New Delhi: India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team in quake-hit Turkiye has rescued an six-year-old girl in Gaziantep city from under the rubble of damaged buildings, Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted.

“Proud of our NDRF.

“In the rescue operations in Türkiye, Team IND-11 saved the life of a six-year-old girl, Beren, in Gaziantep city.

“Under the guidance of PM @narendramodi, we are committed to making @NDRFHQ the world’s leading disaster response force. #OperationDost,” he posted.

Meanwhile, the MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet said that another NDRF team has been deployed at Antakya to boost the earthquake relief efforts.

“Specialised Search and Rescue teams of @NDRFHQ are working round the clock at Nurdagi.

“Another team deployed at Antakya to augment the ongoing earthquake relief efforts.”

Bagchi also tweeted that the Indian Army’s team of medical specialists stationed in the field hospital set up in Iskenderum is working round the clock to provide relief to those injured.

India’s outreach comes as the death toll from Monday’s 7.8 Richter temblor that shook Turkiye has climbed to nearly 20,000.

India has deployed six planeloads of relief and rescue material, medicines, as well as teams of specialised NDRF personnel and doctors to aid in the relief efforts. (UNI)
