New Delhi:The BJP on Saturday slammed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Navjot Singh Sidhu for his controversial remarks, as he called Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan his "big brother".

"Whatever Sidhu says is as per Rahul's direction, just like every word in Salman Khurshid's book got his nod," said National Spokesperson of BJP Sambit Patra, while addressing a press conference in New Delhi.

"Congress leaders refer to Pakistanis as brothers, but Hindus as ISI," he alleged.Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu had called Imran khan as his "big brother," while he was interacting with the CEO of Kartarpur Project. Sidhu has visited Kartarpur to pay obeisance at Shri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara.

In an earlier visit to Pakistan, he had hugged Pakistan Army Chief General Bajwa, drawing ire from several quarters."Today, Sidhu addressed Imran Khan as 'big brother' and said that I love him very much. This is a matter of concern for crores of Indians” said Patra.

He said Sidhu's statements in the interest of Pakistan are not a coincidence, but this has been the attitude of the Congress party and its leaders like Salman Kharshid, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Rashid Alvi and above all Rahul Gandhi, who all have abused Hinduism and Hindutva.”

BJP IT-Cell chief Amit Malviya also criticised Sidhu over his remarks and said it was not a surprise that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi chose Sidhu over Captain Amarinder Singh.

"Rahul Gandhi's favourite Navjot Singh Sidhu calls Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan his 'bada bhai'. Last time he had hugged Gen Bajwa, Pakistan Army's Chief, heaped praises. Is it any surprise that the Gandhi siblings chose a Pakistan-loving Sidhu over veteran Amarinder Singh?," he tweeted. Malviya also posted a video, showing Siddhu exchanging warm greetings with a Pakistan official, while visiting the Kartarpur shrine.(UNI)
