Mysuru: Amidst controversies over mosques and temples, former Karnataka Chief Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy has asked if the land donated by Tipu Sultan to temples will be returned if Muslims demand it.
"Some people are unnecessarily creating confusion over Srirangapatna Jamia Masjid. Did God come in their dreams and tell them that it was his original place? Did He ask for it to be corrected?. In his time, Tipu donated land to several Hindu temples. If this were to appear in that community’s dreams, then would they leave the land for that community? Setting aside all of this, look out for people’s lives," he told reporters here on Wednesday.
On Tambula Prashne in Mangaluru after finding a temple-like structure underneath a mosque, he said more than the outcome of the ritual, the BJP government will consider instructions from "Keshava Krupa '' (RSS head office in Bengaluru).
Kumaraswamy said such controversies will erupt for next one year which will hamper peace and harmony of the country. Instead of reclaiming temples from mosques, the government should focus on people's welfare and livelihood, he said.
ON former CM and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa's not getting a ticket to contest MLC elections in Karnataka, Kumaraswamy said it will damage the prospects of BJP in the runup to assembly elections scheduled in 2023. (UNI)
