Will not accept bail, continue dharna in jail: Prashant Kishor

Patna: "Jan Suraaj" founder Prashant Kishor who was arrested on Monday morning for his unauthorized fast unto death dharna at Gandhi Maidan, a prohibited area, declared in court premises that he would not accept bail and continue his dharna in jail.

Kishor after his arrest, told media persons on court premises, that he would not accept bail and continue his dharna in jail, as he had been doing at Gandhi Maidan since Thursday in support of demands of BPSC aspirants, particularly for cancellation of Preliminary Test earlier held on December 13.

"Jan Suraaj" leader was produced in the Court of Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate of Patna after his arrest from Gandhi Maidan, where he was sitting on fast unto death dharna. He would not furnish bail bond with conditions of not staging dharna and protests, he declared.

Kishor has been sitting on fast unto death dharna at Gandhi Maidan since Thursday in support of the demands of agitating BPSC aspirants. The district administration of Patna had asked Kishor to shift his dharna to a designated place for such purpose in the Gardanibagh locality. Despite requests from authorities, Kishor continued his dharna and declared that he would withdraw his agitation only after the demands of BPSC aspirants were accepted.

When Kishor repeatedly refused the requests of the district administration to shift his dharna to the Gardanibagh locality, he was arrested on Monday morning. He was taken to a government hospital for a medical checkup before producing in court.
