105-year-old Kartar Kaur becomes ‘The Flag Bearer’ for vaccination against Corona

Chandigarh/Moga: With the worldwide vaccination campaign against coronavirus in full swing, Punjab too, is vaccinating people above the age of 45 years on the instructions of the Central government.
While the vaccination is being given full support by educated and intelligent people, but some people under ignorance are creating superstitions and misconceptions about the vaccination. An elderly Kartar Kaur, a 105-year-old lady from Moga, carried the flag to the ward to create awareness among the people, where she and her family were vaccinated.
Although Mata Kartar Kaur belongs to village Bhinder Khurd, she is now living with her son in Moga. She along with her family got vaccinated in a camp which was organised under the leadership of his grandson and former councillor Manjit Singh Mann. More than 188 people were vaccinated in the camp. At present Mr Manjit Singh Mann’s wife, Amanpreet Kaur Mann is the Councilor of a ward.
The family informed that Mata Kartar Kaur has been vaccinated on the strength of her will and determination. She was not pressurised by anyone. Mata Kartar Kaur thinks that vaccination is mandatory to prevent this disease. She also said even if it was not the turn of some people to get vaccinated, they should follow the instructions of the government and the health department. She said she did not have fever or any other problem after being vaccinated. Ms Kaur said a healthy person has no fear of any kind of problem.
Praising the spirit of Mata Kartar Kaur, Deputy Commissioner Mr Sandeep Hans appealed to the people above the age of 45 years to get rid of all illusions and get themselves and their families vaccinated. He said this vaccination was being carried out in Civil Hospital Moga, all CHCs, 91 Health Wellness Centers. Apart from this special camps are also being organized in different areas of which people should take huge advantage. (UNI)
