Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigations on Monday raided over 40 locations in Uttar Pradesh and two other states in connection with the alleged Gomti riverfront project scam.
As per the official sources, the raids were conducted in 13 districts of UP which included Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Etawah, Agra and in parts of West Bengal and Rajasthan.
Earlier, an Anti-Corruption Wing of the CBI had registered an FIR against 190 people in the alleged scam.
It is alleged that several financial irregularities occurred in over 1,600 crore Gomti riverfront project which was launched by the former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in 2015.
In 2017, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formed a committee that allegedly found that 95 per cent of the funds have been utilised while only 60 per cent of work was completed. (UNI)
