BCCI finally embraces DRS system in Ind-Eng series

New Delhi: After raising questions on the effectiveness and accuracy of Decision Review System (DRS) for a long time, the BCCI today finally agreed to deploy the controversial system on a trial basis in the upcoming Test series between India and England .According to a BCCI statement, DRS will be allowed to be used by the BCCI in its overall capacity.
A BCCI team accepted its use only after evaluating the improvements made to the system in a meeting with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Hawkeye officials, it said.
"We are happy to note that Hawkeye has institutionalized all the recommendations made by BCCI, and we confirm that this improved version of DRS will be used on a trial basis during the forthcoming series against England and based on the performance of the system and the feedback that we will receive, further continuation in forthcoming series will be decided," board's chief Anurag Thakur said in the statement.

Earlier, India had played a series against Sri Lanka in 2008 with the DRS however, many senior players and board officials had opposed it after most of the verdict didn't went in India's favour.
Notably, India will host England for five Test, three ODIs and three T20s between November 9 to February 1. (UNI)
