Bihar: Youth stabbed several times for watching Nupur Sharma’s video in Sitamarhi, family alleges police tweaked complaint copy

Sitamarhi: A young man was stabbed causing serious injuries to him by people under Nanpur police station area in Sitamarhi district of Bihar.
Police said here on Tuesday that the incident took place on Sunday under Nanpur police station area where a young man was stabbed several times at a betel shop.
The man identified as 23-year-old Ankit Jha sustained serious injuries in the incident and he was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, police added.
When contacted, Jha said that he was surfing WhatsApp on his cell phone when some people of different communities present there, got engaged in a quarrel with him. Following a heated altercation, they stabbed him several times, he stated.
Jha was stated to be watching video of TV debate on a news story on his WhatsApp relating to derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad, allegedly made by Nupur Sharma. Family members of Jha said that police registered an FIR only after the reference to Nupur Sharma was deleted from the complaint.
Meanwhile, SP of Sitamarhi Har Kishor Rai claimed that there was no communal angle in the incident. Two of the four persons named in the FIR were arrested in this connection, police informed. (UNI)
