Case registered against 38 over cow slaughter in UP, 4 cops suspended

Basti: Four policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO), have been suspended and a case has been lodged against 38 people, including the cops, in connection with cow slaughter in Sonha area of the district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, a senior officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashish Shrivastava said that a carcass of a cow after slaughtering the animals was thrown in Gadapurchak village on Monday. "The carcass was initially buried by the local residents, but after getting information a team led by Sub Divisional Magistrate examined the spot which confirmed cow slaughter," he said.
He said that taking serious cognizance of the incident SHO Vinod Kumar, Sub-Inspector Anil Yadav, two constables Rahul Singh and Vipin Singh have been suspended with immediate effect. "Police force has been deployed in the area for security and few arrests have been made," he said.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of district president of Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh, Akhilesh Singh, a case has been registered against SI Anil Yadav, Haroon, Abbu Haji, Gulab, Habib, Tauheed, Mubarak, Shafeequllah, Imtiaz Ali, Razzak, Ishq Miyan, Home Guard Zahid, Saleem, Rashid, Tajamul, Jugnu, Tillu, Pawan Dwivedi and 20 unidentified people under Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and section 11 of Cruelty to Animals Act at Sohna police station.(UNI)
