Former cricketers condemn Amarnath terror attack

New Delhi: The cricketing fraternity has condemned the militant attack on Amarnath yatris that left seven of them dead and 19 others wounded in Anantnag last night.The terror attack, which happened at 2020 hrs last night in south Kashmir's Anantnag, is being condemned globally and several India cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and others took to microblogging website Twitter to express their grief at the tragic incident.

Expressing his concern over the brutal incident and terming the culprits as ‘shameless’, Sehwag tweeted, “Deep condolences to family of those killed on pilgrimage of #AmarnathYatra Requires shamelessness of another level 2 kill innocent pilgrims.

" Also, Tendulkar shared his thoughts over the incident and said,"Deeply disturbed by the terror attack on #AmarnathYatra pilgrims.Thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families." Former Team India coach Kumble wrote on his twitter handle,"Deeply saddened by the attack on #AmarnathYatra pilgrims.My prayers and thoughts with all those affected.

" Former batsman VVS Laxman also expressed pain over the attack and said,"Deeply Saddened by the Dastardly act by terrorists killing innocent Amarnath Yatri's. May their Souls Rest in Peace." Significantly, seven pilgrims, five of them women, were killed in the militant attack when they were returning back after visiting the Amarnath shrine.(UNI)
