Hassan: Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa on Friday ended frequent speculations about his continuance as the the head of the BJP government in the state, saying he will be the Chief Minister for the remaining period (two years) and there is no question of change.

Responding to a question by scribes here, Mr Yediyurappa underlined that, "I will remain as Chief Minister for another 2 years.  There is no doubt about it. Yesterday, party National General Secretary and in charge of party affairs in Karnataka Arun Singh has also made it clear about my continuation and hence the question of change does not arise."

"I will remain in the chair as long as party's senior leaders have confidence in me.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former BJP National Chief and Home Minister Amit Shah have confidence in me and I don't want to disappoint them.  I will tour the State and work for the welfare of the people," he added.

A section of legislators led by Tourism Minister CP Yogeshwar and party legislator Arvind Bellad travelled to Delhi last week with allegations of corruption against Mr Yediyurappa, post which the chief minister said he is ready to resign if senior leaders of the party ask for it. (UNI)
