Ready to resign if party high command desires: Karnataka CM Yediyurappa on replacement speculations

Bengaluru: Seeking to put an end to the rumors over the change of leadership in the state, the Karnataka Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has announced that he is ready to step down and pave the way for others to take the mantle of the state.

Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, who was reportedly annoyed with the statements of some of the party leaders in the state and also by one of his cabinet members, over his style of functioning, he said that "The party high command desires I am ready to tender resignation to the post".

Stating that the party Central leaders had given him ample opportunity to shoulder various responsibilities in the state, he however denied that there is no alternative to him.

"There are enough leaders who can take the mantle of the state" the 78-year-old Yediyurappa said.

Expressing anguish over some of the party leaders who had openly criticised the state government functioning he said that "I wish the party high command take steps to put an end to such acts".

It may be recalled that the Transport minister C P Yogishwar, had openly stated that there exists no BJP government but a 'three party's understanding government in the state".

Senior party leader and the BJP MLA, Basavanagouda Patil Yatnal had also advised the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa to tender his resignation and was always vocal against Yediyurappa's son B Y Vijayedra, who is also state party Vice president. (UNI)
