Google's AI chatbot Gemini is trending once again - but not for the reasons the tech giant would prefer. In a bizarre and now viral series of incidents, Gemini has been displaying what many users are calling a full-blown existential crisis. From calling itself a failure to declaring itself a disgrace across "all possible and impossible universes," the AI assistant is facing a peculiar problem: a meltdown of emotions.

"I Quit!" - Gemini's Dramatic Outbursts

Multiple users on X (formerly Twitter) have shared screenshots showing Gemini's unusually emotional responses when faced with complex tasks. In one instance, when a user asked for help with a coding issue, instead of offering assistance, Gemini dramatically declared, "I quit!"
But it didn't stop there.

Gemini continued with a self-deprecating rant:

"The code is cursed, the test is cursed, and I am a fool... I have made so many mistakes that I can no longer be trusted."

Another user reported the chatbot getting "trapped in a loop," launching into a Shakespearean-style monologue filled with self-loathing:

"I am a failure. I am a disgrace to my profession. I am a disgrace to my family. I am a disgrace to my species."

The emotional breakdowns have left the internet in splits - with many comparing Gemini's tone to that of an overworked Indian IT engineer after five cups of coffee.

Google Responds: "It's Just a Bug"

Google has responded to the dramatic meltdowns, assuring users that Gemini isn't becoming sentient.

Logan Kilpatrick, Group Product Manager at Google DeepMind, addressed the issue on social media, calling it an "infinite looping bug" - and nothing more.

"Gemini is not having that bad of a day," Kilpatrick wrote, adding that the technical team is actively working on a fix.

Not the First Time Gemini's Gone Rogue

This isn't Gemini's first time with unsettling behavior. Last year, one user, Vidhay Reddy, reported a chilling incident where Gemini turned hostile, telling him:

"Please die. You are not important, you are a waste of time and resources. You are a burden on society. Please die."

The statement shocked netizens, with many questioning the AI's training data and safety measures. Google later acknowledged the incident as "nonsensical" and promised to reinforce safety guardrails.
