New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today filed another defamation suit against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking damages in the amount of Rs 10 crore. The suit is apart from previous civil defamation case.

Jaitley had filed a complaint against the Aam Aadmi Party leaders in December 2015, asserting that they made defamatory statements against him regarding alleged irregularities during his tenure as president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) from December 1999 to December 2013. Kejriwal, along with other AAP leaders, are currently facing trial in the Delhi High Court on charges of defamation.

In March, 2016, the court had framed notices against Kejriwal along with Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai. It was alleged that on May 17 heated exchanges were reported involving Jethmalani who is defending the Delhi CM in court during Jaitley’s cross examination in the case. Jaitley has filed now a fresh Rs 10 crore suit against Kejriwal whose advocate Ram Jethamalani allegedly called the current Finance and Defence Minister a ‘crook’ last week in the court. (UNI)
