New Delhi: Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla on Thursday withdrew her plea seeking changes in the earlier Delhi High Court order that dismissed her plea against 5G technology roll out in India.

In the present plea, advocate Deepak Khosla, appearing for Chawla sought the suit of the actress to be considered as "rejected" and not "dismissed".

The court granted the liberty to withdraw the application after the submission of Khosla.

On June 4, the Bench of Justice JR Midha had dismissed the plea filed by Chawla against the rollout of 5G technology in the country, stating that the plea was filed for media publicity.

The court had also imposed a cost of Rs 20 lakh on the actor and others for abusing and misusing the process of law.

During the hearing, the court came down heavily on the petitioners, saying the plea had been stuffed with unnecessary and frivolous material where the plaintiff does not have any knowledge about the facts.

The hearing had also witnessed some dramatic events after an unidentified person disrupted proceedings of the court three times by singing songs from popular movies of Juhi Chawla.

Issuing show cause notice of contempt against the mischief-maker, the bench said, Delhi Police shall identify the person and take action against those who created disruption.

Juhi's plea alleged that 5G technology threatens to provoke serious radiation impact on humans and permanent damage to natural ecosystems.

It also sought direction from the authorities to certify to the public at large that how 5G technology is safe for humans, animals, and every type of living organism, flora, and fauna. (UNI)
