Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has rejected exit polls aired by several channels, which gave an edge to the Congress to form the government, and claimed that the BJP will get an absolute majority in the assembly polls and return to power.

He, however, did not give a specific number of seats the party will win, in contrast to his earlier prediction that it will win 130 plus constituencies in the 224-member House.

Yediyurappa was reacting to exit polls aired by several news channels which are giving an edge to the Congress to form the government. "No, we are going to get an absolute majority," he told a section of the media.

Asked whether the BJP will have a post-poll alliance with JDS to form the government in case of a hung verdict, Yediyurappa said, "I did not say that we are going to have an alliance with JDS at all. Whatever happens, after the result, the central leadership will take a decision. Now according to me, we are going to get the majority."

Asked about Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi quitting the party, Yediyurappa said it would not have any impact. "For their own sake, they (Shettar and Savadi) have joined the Congress party for that I am not bothered." (UNI)
