Bhopal: The novel coronavirus torpedoed the academic sphere again on Wednesday as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the state Board of Secondary Education's higher secondary examinations stand cancelled for this academic year.

“Children's lives are invaluable; contemplation regarding careers may be done at a later stage. At this juncture, the COVID-19 crisis confronts us. Therefore, it shall be improper to impose a mental burden on pupils. A ministerial group has been constituted to determine the manner in which the 12th standard results will be finalised. The body shall discuss the issue with experts and consider avenues such as internal assessment. Earlier, we decided to annul high school exams. If any 12th class student wishes to appear for the tests with the objective of improving his or her performance then that route will always be open once the pandemic abates,” the senior politician averred in a message.
