Police foil ex-filtration bid to PoK at Uri, 4 held

Baramulla: Police on Friday claimed to have foiled an exfiltration bid to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) by arresting four youths, who were on-way to the Line of Control (LoC), in the border town of Uri in this north Kashmir district.
A police official said police received specific information that three local youths were to be received by a guide, identified Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam, who was supposed to help them to exfiltrate to PoK through Gowhallan sector in Uri.
“Acting swiftly upon the input, a special team intercepted the group and arrested the guide and the trio,” he said.
He said the arrested youths have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Hajam, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Sheeri Mirhar and Yasir Bhat, a resident of Chatloora Sopore.
“Incriminating material, including sharp knives, torch among others were also recovered from them,” he said, adding a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation into the matter is in progress. (UNI)
