Mumbai: Snapping the winning streak of last six sessions, the Rupee on Tuesday heavily down by 44 paise to 68.97, a six-week-low on rising demand for US Dollars by importers, dealers at Forex Market said.
Registering a huge gain of Rs 1.63 in last six sessions, the domestic unit fell by two paise to 68.55 in early session. Till the end of the day, it tumbled down by 44 paise to end negative at 68.97 as compared to its last close.
The major oscillation was seen during the day as it registered day high and low at 69.02 and 68.35 respectively.The Indian currency went down today on firm dollar against other world currencies, however robust equity market capped from further decline, they added.(UNI)
