“Stop tagging me, I’m not former Punjab CM”: Football player Amrinder Singh urges media amid Twitter goof up

New Delhi: Indian football player Amrinder Singh urged the media not to confuse him with former Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh, here on Thursday.
The football player, a namesake of the former Punjab CM pointed out that there was confusion on Twitter where people are tagging him instead of Captain Amarinder in political posts amid the political crisis in Punjab. He requested the journalists to stop tagging him on Twitter.
"Dear News Media, Journalists, I am Amrinder Singh, Goalkeeper of Indian Football Team and not the Former Chief Minister of the state of Punjab. Please stop tagging me," the goalkeeper posted on Twitter.

Captain also took note of Singh's request and retweeted his tweet while wishing him good luck for his game. "I empathise with you, my young friend. Good luck for your games ahead," the ex-Punjab CM said.

The football player and the ex-Punjab CM share a common name with a difference of one letter. While the former CM's name is spelt as Amarinder Singh, the goalkeeper's name is written as Amrinder Singh. (UNI)
