Tamil Nadu: Burnt body of missing Congress leader found in the garbage yard of his farm

Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu): The charred body of Tirunelveli East District Congress Committee President K.B.K.Jayakumar Dhanasingh (60), who was reportedly missing, was found in his farm at Karaichithupudur village under Uvari police limits in this Southern district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
 
Police said Jayakumar went missing from his house on Thursday evening and following a complaint from his son J.Karuthaiah Jefrin, the Uvari police had launched a search operation.
 
Meanwhile, the fully burnt body of Jayakumar was found in the garbage yard on the farm, located near his house.
 
The Police suspect that the hands and legs of Jayakumar were tied with electric cables, as only copper wires around his limbs were found. The insulation on the electric cables had melted when the body was set ablaze.
 
Superintendent of Police (SP) N.Silambarasan and forensic experts visited the spot and held investigations.
 
The police recovered the Voter I.D and Aadhar cards of the deceased from the farm.
 
The body was moved to the Government Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
 
The police suspect that the victim was killed by assailants, who then tried to destroy the evidence by setting the body on fire.
 
The police are also looking into other causes of the death, including suicide.
 
Five special police teams have been formed to probe the murder.
 
Jayakumar had complained with the SP on April 30, last claiming threat to his life over financial transactions and listed the names of eight persons, of them few Congress leaders including a sitting Congress MLA, a former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President who issued death threats to him. He also stated suspicious movement of strangers around his house was seen by him during night times and appealed to the police to take suitable action.
