Ghaziabad: YouTuber Puneet Superstar, whose real name is Prakash Kumar, has been booked for allegedly insulting former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati by calling her "Mummy" in a viral Instagram video.
The FIR was filed late last night at the Shalimar Garden police station by BSP’s Ghaziabad district president, Narendra Mohit. In his complaint, Mohit alleged that the YouTuber's remarks had hurt the sentiments of party workers and disrespected a senior political leader known across the nation as “Behenji”.
In the now-viral video posted from Instagram account @puneetsuperr_star, Puneet is seen addressing Mayawati emotionally, saying:
"Mayawati mummy… I miss you a lot. I think of you often. Mummy… where have you gone?"
He used an image of the BSP leader in the background while delivering the lines.
Following the backlash, Puneet released a public apology video, saying, "Last night I made a video on former CM Mayawati Ji. I had no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. If I did, I fold my hands and sincerely apologise. I promise never to repeat such a mistake in the future. Jai Shri Ram."
The BSP maintains that the YouTuber's actions were disrespectful and aimed at mocking the former CM under the guise of comedy. The complaint also mentions that such acts disrupt social harmony and demands strict legal action to prevent recurrence.
This isn’t the first time Puneet has drawn controversy. In earlier videos, he referred to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as "Papa" and pleaded for an iPhone 16 Pro Max, saying, "Papa... Please buy it for me."
The YouTuber has also earlier claimed both PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as his "fathers" for “running the country while staying hungry” and made similar remarks about Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal.
Known for his outlandish and often offensive content, Puneet has over 1 crore (10 million) followers on Instagram and 24,000 subscribers on YouTube. His videos often show him engaging in antics like lying in mud or mocking homeless individuals, behaviours that have frequently been criticised as insensitive and degrading.
