District and Session court here on Friday pronounced the quantum of punishment to the duo prime accused in Nikita Tomar murder case. The shooters Tosif and Rihan have been awarded life imprisonment in the murder of 20-year-old college student Nikita Tomar. Earlier on Wednesday, the court held the duo guilty.
Tosif and Rihan shot Tomar, the student of Agarwal college in Faridabad, point-blank outside her college gate on October 26 last year when she was coming out after giving an examination, and fled in a car.The girl later succumbed to her injuries in a hospital. The whole crime was recorded in a CCTV camera, which went viral and lead to a public outrage.
The family of the girl, who was the final-year student, had linked the crime to 'love jihad'.The vitim's family stated that accussed has been after the girl for a long time.
Additional Session Judge Sartaj Baswana found the duo guilty of murder and criminal conspiracy. However, Tosif's uncle Arjudeen, accused under arms act, was acquitted by the court.
The Police had filed a charge sheet on November 6. Tosif and Rihan were booked under sections 120B, 302,364, 366 read with section 511/120B/34 of Indian Penal Code.
During the hearing in the fast-track court, the prime witness, Tomar's friend, who was accompanying her, the CCTV footage, the car, the pistol and other evidences, were produced before the court.
