Two militants, soldier killed, ultra surrenders in encounter

Srinagar: Two militants and a soldier were killed in a fierce encounter in the north Kashmir district of Bandipora while another militant surrendered in Baramulla today, official sources said.

Official sources told UNI that troops of 13 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at village Manzpora Naikkhai in Bandipora following a tip off about the presence of militants this morning.

An encounter ensued after militants hiding in the area opened fire with automatic weapons on security forces, they said, adding that the fire was returned. The Source said in the encounter, so far, two militants and a soldier were killed.The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they said.
