UP: 3 cops booked after businessman dies in police raid in Gorakhpur; CM Yogi orders investigation against criminal image policemen

Lucknow: After three policemen were named in connection with the murder of a Kanpur property dealer in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken serious note of the incident and initiated strict action against all policemen of the state with criminal image.
CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed the top officials of the Home Department here on Thursday to investigate all the policemen of the state having criminal image. He also directed immediate dismissal of all if found guilty in this investigation.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now directed to get all the tainted policemen of the state investigated and prepare a list. He has ordered the dismissal of all policemen with criminal image found guilty in the investigation of the Home Department.
On the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath, police will review the records of all the policemen of the state by forming two committees under the leadership of DG Intelligence DS Chauhan and ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar. Indulging in any kind of criminal activity or if found guilty in any case, they will be forcibly retired and dismissed, officials here said.
In the review meeting, CM Yogi Adityanath said that in the recent past, there have been complaints of some police officers/personnel indulging in illegal activities. This is not acceptable at all. There should be no place for such people in the police department. Identify such people with proof and provide a list. Action will be taken against all as per rules. Along with this, the police officers/personnel involved in very serious crimes should be sacked. People with tainted image should not be posted in important posts in the field. (UNI)
