UP: 5 killed, 6 injured as SUV, on way to Kedarnath, rams into container

Bulandshahr: Five members of a family, including two children, were killed and six others injured when the SUV they were travelling in collided with a container on the Meerut-Bulandshahr highway on Tuesday morning.
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said that the incident occurred around 4:30 in Baral area when the SUV ferrying pilgrims rammed into a stationary container. "Hardik Mahaur (5), Vansh Mahaur (6), Himanshu Agarwal (25), Paras (22) and Shalu (21) died on the spot.
The DM said that Jaswant (28), Damini (20), Sinki (27), Rinki (28), Harendra (31) and Baby (12) were injured in the accident. "The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Bulandshahr, where condition of three is stated to be serious," he said.
He said that the incident occurred when 11 members of a family were on their way to Kedarnath. The DM and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Singh reached the spot and started the rescue work, police said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over loss of lives in the accident and has expressed his sympathies towards the bereaved families. "The CM has directed to ensure proper treatment of those injured in the accident," an official spokesman said. (UNI)
