Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan released from jail after 2 years

Sitapur: Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and MLA from Rampur seat Mohammad Azam Khan, who was lodged behind the bars in connection with various criminal cases, was released on Friday on bail after spending 26 months 24 days in jail.
Jail administration sources said that the release order was received late on Thursday night after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail.
On the basis of the apex court order Azam was released this morning, they said. Report said that Azam has left for Rampur.
Azam was released after completing paperwork after two release orders were received by the Sitapur jail administration.
Azam's counsel Zubair Ahmad said that it was a matter of relief that the Rampur court released bail order of Azam Khan in the matter of enemy property and fake recognition of three schools and the order reached Sitapur jail on Thursday night.
SP president Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, "Heartiest welcome to senior SP leader and MLA Azam Khan on his release on bail. The Supreme Court has set new standards of justice through this order of bail. Have full faith that he will be acquitted in all other false cases." (UNI)
