Uttar Pradesh: Several feared drowned as boat capsizes in Yamuna

Banda: Several persons are feared to have been drowned after a boat capsized in Yamuna river in Marka area in the district here in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
Police have confirmed two deaths till now.
Police sources said that the boat coming from Fatehpur lost balance and capsized in Yamuna river near Marka town around 3 pm.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinandan along with other officials have reached the spot and a major rescue operation has been launched with the help of the divers.

Police said that so far the number of people on the boat is not clear.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Banda district administration to reach the spot immediately and launch a rescue and relief operation. He has expressed grief over loss of lives in the incident and has conveyed his sympathies towards the bereaved families.
The CM has directed the District Magistrate, DIG, teams of NDRF and SDRF to reach the spot immediately. He has also directed that proper treatment must be provided to those who were injured in the incident. (UNI)
