Mamata Banerjee's fate to be decided today as counting of votes for Bhabanipur bypoll begins

Kolkata: All eyes are on high profile Bhabanipur constituency in the city from where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's fate will be decided as counting for the byelections to three Assembly seats in West Bengal began at 8 AM this morning.
Counting for other two Assembly constituencies of Jangipur and Shamsherganj in Murshidabad district also started this morning.
Counting for Bhawanipur Assembly constituency is taking place at Shakhawat Memorial Government School, where 21 rounds will take place.
Bhabanipur has been home and citadel of Ms Banerjee. This time she is pitted against BJP's Priyanka Tibrewal and CPI(M) Srijib Biswas.
Though there are some nine more candidates, the contest is restricted to the TMC and BJP, and Ms Banerjee is undoubtedly a heavyweight. In the March-April election Sovandeb Chattopadhyay won the seat by securing 57.71 per cent votes, while BJP candidate Rudranil Ghoshcame second with 35.16 pc. (UNI)
