Mumbai: India produced a clinical perform to beat West Indies by 67 runs in the 3rd T20I to clinch the three match series 2-1, here at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
After posting a mammoth 240 on board, Indian bowlers including Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav , Bhuvi and Md Shami picked two wickets each to restrict Windies to 173 for 8 in 20 overs, giving India a 67 runs victory.
Chasing a mammoth target of 241 runs for victory, West Indies suffered a huge blow as big-hitting opener Evin Lewis did not come to bat after picking up a knee injury while fielding at the deep in the first innings.
Lendl Simmons and Brandon king came out to open for Windies and they didn't have a great start.Lendl Simmons (7), Brandon King (5) and Nicholas Pooran (0) departed without troubling the scorers much, as West Indies found themselves struggling at 17/3 in the 4th over.
West Indies lost three wickets inside first 4 overs but Shimron Hetmyer and Kieron Pollard put up a 74-run stand to keep their side afloat in 241 run chase.Soon, Kuldeep Yadav removed dangerous looking Hetmyer for 41 to put the pressure back on the visitors. From there on, the Indian bowlers kept on taking wickets at regular intervals. At the end, Kieron Pollard's (68 off 39 balls) five sixes wasn't enough and it was nothing more than consolation for the visitors.(UNI)
