Abu Dhabi: India have secured their place in the Super 4 stage of the T20 Asia Cup 2025, following the United Arab Emirates’ 42-run victory over Oman in their final Group A match. The UAE win ensured that India topped the group, making their last group-stage fixture against Oman a dead rubber.

India had already showcased strong form in the tournament, with back-to-back wins over Pakistan and the UAE in earlier matches. However, it was the UAE’s triumph over Oman that mathematically confirmed India’s progression, eliminating any remaining uncertainty about their Super 4 berth.

With qualification already assured, India are expected to use the September 19 match against Oman to rotate their squad and provide opportunities to benched players. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir are likely to experiment with batting orders and bowling combinations, fine-tuning the team for the more competitive Super 4 stage.

For Oman, who were eliminated from the tournament after defeats in both their previous matches, the clash against India offers a chance to end their campaign on a positive note. A strong performance against the tournament favourites could give the Associate side a boost of confidence for future international events.

Meanwhile, the battle for the remaining Super 4 spot in Group A will continue to hinge on other results. The UAE’s victory over Oman strengthens their position, but Pakistan still have an opportunity to challenge for the last place, setting up high-stakes encounters in the concluding group matches.

The Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup will begin later this week, with the top two teams from each group competing for a place in the September 22 final in Dubai. India, having secured early qualification, will now focus on consolidating their combinations and strategy as they aim to continue their dominant run in the tournament.
