On December 28, the former captain met with an accident and was admitted to hospital and is reportedly on ventilator following injuries to his lungs and liver. The BCCI provided a monetary help of Rs 5 lakh, while Baroda Cricket Association sanctioned Rs 3 lakh. Meanwhile, former BCCI and BCA secretary, Sanjay Patel is also facilitating the efforts to raise the funds.
Martin played 10 ODIs for India between September 1999 and October 2001, with 22.57 average. The former Ranji captain played Baroda and Railways in domestic cricket, and his last first-class was in December 2009.
