New Delhi: Playing in his first-ever Ranji Trophy match, Delhi boy Yash Dhull registered a century against Tamil Nadu at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Thursday.
Dhull, who led India to win a record fifth Under-19 World Cup, scored 113 off 150 balls, which included 18 boundaries. The 19-year-old could not have asked for a better debut at India's premier domestic tournament.
In spite of losing a couple of wickets on the other end, Dhull stood tall before pacer M Mohammed trapped him leg-before.
Delhi, who are in Group H, reached 291/7 at stumps, thanks to Jonty Sidhu's 71 and Lalit Yadav's 45 not out.
For Tamil Nadu, Mohammed, Sandeep Warrier and Baba Aparajith took two wickets each.
Meanwhile, India senior Test batter Ajinkya Rahane finally overcame his lean patch, notching up a stunning hundred for Mumbai against Saurashtra in a Group D match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rahane, whose last five Ranji scores were 1, 7, 8, 5, 9, amassed 108 not out off 250 balls.
Mumbai reached 263/3 at stumps, with Sarfaraz Khan on 121 not out. (UNI)
