Colombo: After handing his team a memorable win in the tri-series final against Bangladesh, wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik believes it is very tough to make to the Indian side but one should make maximum if he gets a chance.Karthik (29 off 8) played a brilliant cameo at the end of the summit clash on Sunday night and pulled win from the the jaws of defeat as India defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in an edge-of-the-seat match at the R Premadasa Stadium.
Speaking after the match, the 32-year-old Chennai stumper said,"Really happy to come out of this performance. Really happy for the team. We've played really well in this tournament and to not win the final would have been unfortunate.""It was not that easy to bat there. The way Musftazur bowled. So I just had to go out there and hit the ball hard," Man of the Match Karthik said.
Commenting on his incredible hitting, Karthik said,"I have been practicing keeping a good base and hitting through the line and luckily it came out well."Karthik, who is still trying to cement his place in the Indian team, said,"The Indian team is a tough place to get an opportunity, but once you get it, you have to take it. And credit to the backroom staff, they have always supported me and I'm really happy."(UNI)
