IPL 2022: BCCI shifts DC vs PBKS match from Pune after 5 covid cases in Delhi camp

Mumbai: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a change of venue for the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings following the Covid-19 outbreak in the Delhi-based franchise's camp.
The game, which was scheduled to be held at the MCA Stadium, Pune, will now take place at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 20 "to avoid any further incident due to any undetected case during a long-distance bus journey in a closed environment".
The change of venue has been triggered due to five Covid-19 positive cases in the Delhi Capitals contingent.
Physiotherapist Patrick Farhat and Sports Massage Therapist Chetan Kumar were tested on April 15 and 16, while Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh, Team doctor Abhijit Salvi and Social Media Content team member Akash Mane returned positive on April 18.
From April 16 onwards, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing procedure. The 4th round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19 have returned negative.
"The Covid-19 positive cases are under isolation and medical observation. They will be tested on Day 6 and 7 and subject to both the tests being negative they will be re-integrated into the Delhi Capitals bio-secured bubble," said BCCI.
The Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20.
Earlier on April 18, Delhi Capitals in a statement said that Marsh has been admitted to a hospital and the franchise's medical team is closely monitoring his condition. (UNI)
