A case of sexual harassment of a female weightlifting player has come to light in Bihar’s Patna.

The weightlifting player has lodged a case at Kankarbagh police station against her senior and former president of the Bihar Weightlifter Association Arun Kumar Keshri. She alleged that the accused tried to outrage her modesty in his office at Paliputra Sport Complex on Saturday.

SHO Neeraj Thakur said, “We have started a probe into the case.”

The victim said that she is a former weightlifting player and a level-2 technical official. She is eligible to be a referee. Despite this, her name was not being sent as a technical official in the last several state and national competitions.

On this matter, she spoke to the former president of Bihar Weightlifting Association on call on December 4. The former president called her to meet him at the Weightlifting Association office located at Patliputra Sports Complex on Friday.

But later, he sent a WhatsApp message saying that he was going to Rajgir with the DG of BSSA and asked her to call him on December 7 for the meeting.

The victim said that she called the former president on the afternoon of December 7, but he did not answer. So she reached his office in the afternoon.

The victim said that when she reached the office of the Weightlifting Association, where the former president was alone. She alleged that after talking for a while, Arun said that if she does not make him happy, he will not make her a referee in any competition and will ruin her career. After this, he closed the office door and started forcing himself on her. But she somehow opened the door and came out of the office and informed the police about the incident to Dial 112 service.

Kesari has called the allegations of the female player baseless. He said that a disgusting attempt has been made to blackmail him. At the time when the female player came to meet him, about 25 workers including the guards were working there. He is not the president of Bihar Weightlifting Association since last June. In such a situation, he does not even have the right to appoint a referee. Despite this, a false case was filed against him to create pressure.
