Now, even a low profile player will get govt job by sports quota

Jhajjar: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced that not even a small player would remain deprived of government job and provision of reservation has been made for sportspersons from HCS/HPS to Group-D posts under the new sports policy of the state government.
Mr Khattar was speaking after honouring Ms Manu Bhaker of Jhajjar, who had won gold medal in Common Wealth Games, with a turban and a cheque of Rs 1.5 crore, here. He also honoured wrestler Bajrang Punia of Jhajjar, who had won gold medal and family members of Mr Somveer, who had won Bronze Medal in these Games.
He said that Haryana has brought laurels to the nation by winning 33 per cent medals in Common Wealth Games. Therefore, all medal winners and participating players would be honoured according to the new sports policy of the state government. He said that out of 38 players of Haryana who had participated in Common Wealth Games, 22 had won medals. The remaining 16 participating players would also be honoured by the state government be giving away Rs 7.5 lakh to each player, he added.
This year India was at number three position in terms of medals, the Chief Minister expressed hopes that and in future, it would definitely be at number one position. He expressed happiness over the remarkable participation of girls in the field of sports.Mr Khattar said that as per the new sports policy, it has been ensured that the cash prize is sent directly to the bank accounts of the winning players. After presenting cheque of Rs 1.5 crore to Ms Manu Bhaker, the Chief Minister asked her to check her bank account and informed that the cash prize has been sent to her bank account.(UNI)
