Ahmedabad: Priyansh Arya has etched his name into the Indian Premier League (IPL) history books by scoring 475 runs in his debut season, the most by an uncapped Indian batsman. This remarkable feat surpasses the previous record held by Devdutt Padikkal, who amassed 473 runs in 2020.

Arya's journey to IPL stardom began in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), where he showcased his explosive batting prowess by hitting six sixes in an over and accumulating over 600 runs in 10 matches. His performances in the DPL earned him recognition and a subsequent contract with Punjab Kings for Rs 3.8 crore in the IPL 2025 auction.

In this IPL season, Arya's aggressive batting at the top order was instrumental for Punjab. He scored a rapid 103 off 42 balls against Chennai Super Kings, marking the joint-fourth fastest century in IPL history. His consistent performances not only contributed to his team's success but also caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts and experts alike.

Under the guidance of Punjab's head coach Ricky Ponting, Arya honed his skills further. Ponting praised Arya as a "very special potential opening batsman," highlighting his potential for future success. Additionally, Arya received a motivational message from India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who described his batting as "total entertainment" and encouraged him to keep believing in himself.

Arya's record-breaking debut season has positioned him as a promising talent for Indian cricket. His journey from domestic leagues to the IPL spotlight serves as an inspiration for aspiring cricketers across the country. With his current form and determination, Arya is poised to make significant contributions to Indian cricket in the years to come.
