A heated altercation broke out between cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his former Mumbai teammate Musheer Khan during a practice match between Maharashtra and Mumbai.
According to reports, the incident occurred after Musheer Khan dismissed Shaw, who had scored an impressive 181 runs off 220 balls. As Shaw was walking back to the pavilion, some Mumbai players allegedly taunted him. Musheer reportedly said “thank you” to Shaw, which angered the Maharashtra batsman. In response, Shaw charged toward Musheer with his bat and tried to grab him by the collar before other players and the umpire intervened to defuse the situation.
At the end of the first day, Maharashtra finished with a strong total of 430 for three. Maharashtra captain Ankit Bhavne played down the incident, saying, “It was just a practice match. They’re all former teammates. These things happen in the heat of the moment. Everything is fine now.”
Shaw, who has played five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20 International, has been out of the Indian team for a long time. He last represented India in 2021. Earlier this year, Shaw joined the Maharashtra team after receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Mumbai. He showcased his form by scoring both a century and a half-century for Maharashtra in the Buchi Babu Tournament.
