Uttarakhand Glacier Burst: Rishabh Pant to donate match fee towards rescue operations

New Delhi: In a noble gesture, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will donate his match fee towards rescue operations for the glacier burst in Uttarakhand Chamoli district.
Pant, who hails from Uttarakhand, took to Twitter to express grief over the incident and urged more people to donate to the rescue mission.
“Deeply pained by the loss of life in Uttarakhand. Would like to donate my match fee for the rescue efforts and would urge more people to help out,” Pant tweeted on Sunday.

In an earlier post, the 23-year-old wicketkeeper expressed his grief over the loss of lives in the natural calamity.
“My sincere condolences and prayers for the families of those affected by the Uttarakhand flash floods. I hope that the rescue operations underway are able to help those in trouble,” he had written.
A glacier broke off at Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Sunday, leading to a massive flood in the Dhauli Ganga river and causing a massive devastation in the upper reaches of the Himalayas.
In the aftermath of the incident, 19 bodies have been recovered till now, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said on Monday.
As of Monday morning, 32 people from the first tunnel and 121 people from the second were missing and rescue operations to recover people still trapped in the tunnels are underway. (UNI)
