Prithvi Shaw once again showcased his class in domestic cricket, smashing a double century off just 141 balls — the third-fastest double century in Ranji Trophy history. Despite this stellar performance, Shaw did not receive the Player of the Match award. The honor was given to Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who also contributed significantly with 116 runs in the first innings and 36 runs in the second. However, Gaikwad’s next move won hearts across the internet.
In a heartwarming moment, Gaikwad shared his Player of the Match award with Shaw, who played a sensational innings of 222 runs against Chandigarh. His explosive innings included 29 fours and 5 sixes, leading Maharashtra to a commanding position in the match.
Believing that Shaw’s innings was the true foundation of Maharashtra’s victory, he called Shaw on stage and shared the award with him. “Prithvi’s double century set the tone for our win. This award belongs to him as much as it does to me,” Gaikwad said after the presentation ceremony.
