Mumbai:West Indies bundled out for 153 runs, to give India a comprehensive win of 224 runs in the fourth ODI of the five-match series here at Brabourne Stadium on Monday.Now, India is leading the series by 2-1. The fifth and final match will be played on Thursday.
Chasing a mammoth total of 378 runs, West Indies never looked in the game. West Indies lost their first three wickets for 20 runs in just 5.2 overs. Man in form Shai Hope was run out by Kuldeep Yadav on a duck.
Then, Left-arm medium pacer Khaleel Ahmed joined the party and took three quick wickets, reducing West Indies to 56/6 in 13.4 overs. Except for captain Jason Holder (54 not out), no one could face the pressure, giving India its third biggest win in the ODI (by runs). It is their biggest ODI margin of victory against a full-member side.
Keemo Paul (19) was the second highest run-getter for the visitors, while Marlon Samuels scored 18 runs off 23 balls. He was dismissed by Khaleel.Khaleel and 'Chinaman' bowler Kuldeep Yadav bagged three wickets each. The international match was being played here after a gap of nine years. It was the first time, when India played under the lights here in an ODI match.
The last international match took place here between India and Sri Lanka (Test) in 2009, which India won by an innings and 24 runs, claiming the No 1 position in the ICC Test Ranking in the history for the first time.Rohit Sharma was named Man of the Match for his 162-run innings, off 137 balls.(UNI)
