Attention pani puri lovers! Cancer causing chemicals found in your favourite street snack in Karnataka
The food safety officials have shockingly found cancer-causing chemicals in the samples of Pani Puri in Karnataka.
Around 22% of the samples did not meet the safety standards, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) found.
Out of 260 samples they collected, artificial colours and carcinogenic agents that cause cancer were found in 41 samples. Other 18 samples were found to be unfit for human consumption.
Earlier this year, the Karnataka government banned the use of artificial colours in food items such as gobi and kebabs. This decision follows the discovery of unsafe artificial coloring in various street foods, posing significant health risks to consumers.
