Several Instagram reels or YouTube videos claim that your old Aadhaar card will be invalid after June 14. It is being claimed that Aadhaar cards which have not been updated for the last 10 years, have the last chance to get updated till 14th June. After that date, the old Aadhaar card will get invalid.
However, the viral claim is not true.
Aadhaar issuing body Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that those Indian citizens whose Aadhaar card has not been updated for the last 10 years should get their information updated. This is the reason why the agency has given the option to update your old Aadhaar card online for free till June 14.
If not updated, will old Aadhaar card become invalid?
UIDAI has clarified that June 14 is only the last date to update Aadhaar card for free and after that the old Aadhaar card will not become invalid. After this date, Aadhaar card will not be updated for free. Card holders will be able to update it online or by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center.
