Bengaluru: A farmer here was denied entry into Namma Metro by a security supervisor due to his attire, but the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) dismissed him after a public backlash on social media.

Despite carrying a valid ticket, the farmer dressed in white shirt and carrying clothes on his head, was denied entry into Namma Metro at Rajajinagar metro station.

In the viral video, the farmer is seen standing near the luggage scanner, and a commuter Karthik C Airani is questioning the security supervisor for not allowing the farmer to enter the station.

Airani, along with another commuter, is seen arguing that the farmer did not pose any security threat as he was only carrying clothes, which is not in violation of BMRCL rules.

Ultimately, the farmer was allowed to enter the metro station. However, the security supervisor was terminated by BMRCL after taking into account the public ire against the security supervisor on social media.

Regretting the incident, BMRCL stated that Namma Metro believes in inclusivity in transportation.

"Namma “Metro is an inclusive public transport. The Rajajinagar incident was investigated and the services of the security supervisor have been terminated. BMRCL regrets the inconvenience caused to the passenger," it said in a post on X on Monday.

Also, an internal committee has been constituted for a detailed enquiry headed by Deputy Chief Security Officer," BMRCL said.
