In a heartbreaking incident from Mumbai, a 4-year-old girl lost her life after accidentally falling from the 12th floor of her apartment building in Navkar City, Naigaon. The child was reportedly seated by her mother on top of a shoe rack near a window, from where she climbed the sill and tragically slipped.
The entire episode was captured on CCTV, revealing the moments leading up to the fatal fall.
According to CCTV footage, the incident occurred around 8 PM on Wednesday evening. The mother and her daughter, Anvika Prajapati, were preparing to step out for a short outing. The video shows Anvika exiting their 12th-floor apartment, slipping into an adult’s footwear, while her mother locks the door behind them.
Moments later, the mother notices Anvika wandering near the entrance. She picks up the child and places her on top of a shoe cupboard positioned near the window. As the woman puts on her slippers and picks up her daughter’s sandals, Anvika is seen standing on the cupboard.
In a heartbreaking turn, the child attempts to sit on the nearby windowsill. However, she loses her balance and tragically falls before she can steady herself.
Shocked and panicked, the mother immediately screams for help. Hearing the cries, neighbours rush to the scene and try to assist. Anvika was quickly taken to Sir DM Petit Hospital in Vasai West, but was declared dead on arrival.
