Mumbai: The issue of Marathi and non-Marathi raised its ugly head once again on Tuesday, when a non-Marathi security guard of an IT company in Powai area of the city got into an verbal spat with a Marathi person and refused to speak in Marathi.
After that, MNS workers directly went to the IT company's office and demanded the security guard concerned for an answer.
MNS workers took the stance that they will not tolerate insults to the Marathi language and slapped the security guard concerned.
The incident occurred after MNS president Raj Thackeray took an aggressive stance on the Marathi issue at the party's annual Gudi Padwa rally recently.
"If you want to live in Maharashtra, Marathi must be respected. Just like every state has its own language, if the Marathi language of Maharashtra is not given respect, then it will be a sore spot," Raj had warned.
