Russian President Vladimir Putin is famously cautious about his security, and one of his unusual precautions has often drawn global attention. Reports suggest that whenever Putin travels abroad, his bodyguards not only guard him but also collect his feces and urine in a special suitcase, which is transported back to Moscow.
Putin’s ‘Poo Suitcase’
Among the bulletproof suitcases that accompany Putin on foreign trips is one peculiar briefcase nicknamed the “poo suitcase.” Its purpose is to collect and safely bring back the Russian leader’s biological waste.
Why This Extraordinary Measure?
The practice is linked to secrecy and security. Medical experts note that a person’s health, illnesses, and lifestyle can be revealed through stool and urine tests. To ensure that no foreign intelligence agency can gain such sensitive insights into his health, Putin leaves nothing behind.
Evidence and Reports
This bizarre practice was first highlighted in an article published by Paris Match, where journalists revealed that about six to seven members of the Federal Protection Service (FPS) are assigned to accompany Putin even to the washroom.
A video, shared online by a BBC journalist, further fuelled speculation—showing guards standing outside a bathroom, followed by members of Putin’s security detail carrying a suitcase, before the president himself walked out.
According to The Independent, Putin has been carrying out the practice since the beginning of his leadership.
Health Speculations
Putin’s health has long been a subject of speculation. Over the years, rumors have circulated suggesting possible illnesses such as Cancer, Parkinson’s, or dementia—though none of these claims have been confirmed. Nevertheless, Putin’s precautionary measures show just how seriously he guards his personal health information.
