UP Shocker! Minors kill mother's lover in Bareilly to 'save family's honour'

Two minor boys were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for allegedly killing a 38-year-old man, who was in a relationship with the mother of one of the accused, to save the honour of the family, the police said.

The incident took place in C.B. Ganj Police Station area in Bareilly.

The victim has been identified as farmer Lokesh Gangwar. The incident came to light after some people found his body in a mustard field.

Further investigation revealed Gangwar was also on bail after facing charges related to raping a woman.

Police said Lokesh was having an affair with the mother of one of the accused, adding that he was also living with her. The minor boy and his cousin, aged 16 and 17, were not happy with their mother being in a relationship with some other man. They decided to kill Lokesh as he did not agree to end the affair even after several warnings.

Lokesh also got involved in a heated argument with the woman's husband which further angered the son.

On January 21, the boys set out on a bike in search of Lokesh. They found him intoxicated near the Delhi highway and strangled him with a belt. They then threw his body into the nearby mustard field and fled.

The police said the accused have confessed, and they have recovered the belt and bike used in the crime. Lokesh's phone and his pair of sandals were also recovered.

Police said the accused have been booked under the BNS sections of murder and for hiding evidence and sent to a juvenile home.
