New Delhi: Actress Zaira Wasim, who essayed the younger version of wrestler Geeta Phogat in blockbuster movie Dangal, has spurned Sports Minister Vijay Goel's tweet about a burkha clad woman's painting comparing with Zaira, depicting a Muslim woman breaking free of the veil and societal restrictions.

Goel tweeted about a painting from an exhibition, which was a portrait of a woman in burkha, in which he wrote, "This painting tells a story similar to @zairawasim.Our girls are breaking out from cages and moving ahead.More power to our daughters!" Zaira, who was at the centre of a controversy over her recent meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, reacted, saying that she should not be connected with such a "discourteous depiction".The 16-year-old actress tweeted in reply, "@VijayGoelBJP Sir, with all respect to you, I feel I must disagree.

I request you not to connect me to such a discourteous depiction." "@VijayGoelBJP Women in hijab are beautiful and free." "@VijayGoelBJP Moreover, the story depicted through this painting is not even remotely relevant to mine," she added. To this, Mr Goel tweeted, "You have interpreted wrong.

I appreciated your work and stated that evil and patriarchal notions must be discouraged.
' In another tweet, the Minister said, "I'm afraid you still haven't understood. But I wish you all the very best and appreciate your work. Hope to meet & interact too.(UNI)
